For Students in grades 7-12

In our 5-level curriculum, students complete a variety of pre-selected projects that are designed to teach specific tools and woodworking techniques. It takes a student, on average, about 2 years to complete the 4 levels of competency. Once a student passes level 4, they stay in level 5 until they graduation high school. In level 5, they are qualified for our Entrepreneurship Program and can take on custom orders from the community in which the student earns a commission and/or create items of inventory to sell at local retailers or markets.

Registration open for summer!

Safety First

Students participate in a safety and behavior orientation before beginning classes at the BCW. Safety is our #1 priority!! In addition to the orientation, safety is hammered (pun intended) into the student's awareness with every tool, every project, and every class.

Tool Talks

Each week the students gather together for their weekly Tool Talk in which they delve into one specific tool, learning the functions and safety of that tool. After at least 5 weeks of practice on that tool, the student takes a proficiency test to show that they can use the tool safely and appropriately. 4-6 proficiency tests are required in each level in order to pass up to the next level.
