Summer Camp 2025
The Bull City Woodshop offers hands-on summer camps for middle and high school students, providing a fun and engaging way to learn woodworking and craftsmanship. Campers will gain experience using hand tools and power tools in a safe, supervised environment while creating their own unique projects. Our expert instructors emphasize skill-building, creativity, and problem-solving, helping students develop confidence and a deeper appreciation for working with wood. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and explore. Along with practical woodworking skills, campers will also build teamwork and patience, making lasting memories in a supportive community setting. Youth Classes FAQ's
What age groups do you work with?
We have 2 class options: 3rd-6th grade which is offered on Fridays (Beginning Woodworking) and 7th-12th grade which is offered Monday-Thursdays (Shop Class).
My student is a “mature” 6th grader. Can they register for the 7th-12th grade class?
Due to the high demand for our classes, we cannot make these accommodations. Please register your student for the Friday class, and when they are officially in 7th grade, they can join the ongoing Shop Class program.
How much do classes cost?
In order to make classes accessible for all, we require only a $40 registration fee for the duration of the program (4 weeks for 3rd-6th grades and a full semester for 7th-12th grades). However, this does NOT reflect our actual cost. If you are able to donate towards programming costs, please consider doing so as this will enable us to be able to continue to offer quality woodworking programming.
What safety requirements are there?
At the BCW, safety is our #1 priority. We provide all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and provide a safety orientation at the beginning of every new session. We train students about the safety of the tools every class through a weekly Tool Talk where a specific tool is highlighted and additionally through one-on-one safety instruction before a student uses any tool.
What is your schedule of classes?
Shop Class (7th-12th grades) is once per week for the duration of a trimester: Fall, Spring, and Summer with the intention that the student re-enrolls every trimester. You register your student for a specific shift, and they attend that same shift throughout their term. Options include Monday-Thursday 4:30-6:30 for after school and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 1:00-3:00 for homeschool/alternative school.
Beginning Woodworking (3rd-6th grades) is once per week on Fridays for a duration of 4 weeks. A student may attend ONE 4 week session per semester as the SAME project is taught every session. They may return each semester for a new project (Fall and Spring)
Do you offer summer camp?
Yes! We just added the dates on our calendar and registration will open March 15th.
I want to stay and work with my student! Can I?
Yes! Please sign up to be a volunteer. We would love to put you to work!
