About The BCW

Humble Beginnnings
Founded in 2021 by Andrea Bowens, The Bull City Woodshop began as a small operation with a big vision—to create a space where young people could build, learn, and grow through woodworking. Starting with just a few students in her garage, the BCW has expanded into a fully equipped workshop educating class loads of students with the support of an amazing volunteer network.

Crafting Confidence, Creativity, and Community
The BCW isn't just about making things—it's about mentorship, skill-building, and confidence. Students work on real projects, learn to use professional tools, and even have the opportunity to sell their work. With offerings including after-school classes, home-school programs, and adult workshops, the BCW is committed to making hands-on learning accessible to all.

Ongoing Community Impact
The Bull City Woodshop has grown into a hub for community engagement and mentorship. Through partnerships with local schools, nonprofits, and community organizations, the BCW extends its impact beyond the shop walls. Students and volunteers take part in service projects, from building furniture for local nonprofits to constructing garden beds for urban farms. These projects allow students to see the real-world value of their craftsmanship while giving back to their community.
With the help of dedicated volunteers and supporters, the BCW continues to grow, making woodworking accessible to more students, expanding adult education programs, and increasing opportunities for mentorship. Every donation, every hour volunteered, and every project completed contributes to a stronger, more connected community.
