This community initiative is offered to help provide benches for Durham bus stops that do not have places to sit. For this paid workshop, you will build 2 benches: 1 to keep and 1 to be placed at a bus stop. You have the option to donate both benches towards this initiative. Please plan to have 4-8 people attend your workshop.
The BCW will offer the tools, materials, plans, and support to educate you on building a bench. Grab a few friends, family or co-workers and come along to build benches that will impact the wider Durham Community!
This initiative is put together in partnership with Play, NC, Bike Durham, and the Bull City Woodshop. Read more about it here!
This project is offered as a private group class, not an individual sign-up. Most sessions require 4 or more participants.
Before purchasing, please reach out to us to confirm your date and group size so we can schedule the right instructors and make sure everything is set for your class.
Each quantity purchased equals one seat in the class.
Please plan for 3-4 hours for the workshop. If you have questions regarding scheduling, reach out to Brian at brian.sparrow@bullcitywoodshop.org.
👟 What to Bring: Closed-toed shoes, no loose clothing or jewelry. All materials, tools, and safety equipment provided.
